Investigation on thermodynamic and hydrodynamic behavior of wax precipitation in pipe lines

In this research, the thermodynamic and hydrodynamic behavior of wax precipitation in crude oil has been investigated. The mechanisms of wax precipitation in pipe lines have been studied. Also, additives that improve the rheological behavior of crude oil and pour point have been investigated. Finally, thermodynamic models were studied and after mathematical formulation of these models, the tuning parameters were adjusted. In order to compare the performance of studied models, the wax precipitation experimental data reported in the literature were correlated using deviation of the predicted was precipitation amount from their experimental results. The results show that the Multi-Solid model predicts more accurately the wax precipitation experimental data with 17% deviation in comparison to other models.

Lubrication plays an important role in the correct movement in contact surfaces, consistently and economically. Nowadays, in order to reach a considerable efficiency, all mineral and synthetic based lubricants require additives that can create certain properties. In recent years, nanotechnology and synthesis of nanomaterials have helped to reach new types of additives for lubricants with unique properties. These new additives have attracted lots of attention because of their unique properties and energy saving. In this paper we introduce and evaluate the used nanoadditives in lubricants, according to the conducted research in this area. It is believed that by using these additives, it would be possible to improve most fundamental properties, such as flash point, viscosity, pour point and resistance to friction, of lubricating oils.

Catalytic cracking considered as the best alternative to plastic wastes recycling, accordingly investigated converting mixture of polymers (High and low density poly ethylene, poly propylene, poly styrene, poly ethylene terephthalate, poly vinyl chloride) into middle distillate in presence of novel catalyst AIT-100. In this work we follow of mass fraction in waste management department for real data, as we provided a semi batch reactor at constant pressure to processing. Finally more than 95% of raw materials converts into middle distillate products that include 12% gas, ranging between C1 and C4 and 83% liquid hydrocarbon, ranging between C5-C11+ with a balance of residue. The optimum condition for this yield reports at a temperature of 440 ºC and 10% of catalyst w/w% at atmospheric pressure.

The design of accurate fault diagnosing systems aides process safety and also improves product quality. Therefore, in recent years, many researchers have conducted work on this topic and suggested various techniques for fault detection and diagnosis. In this paper, the fuzzy system based on knowledge of the process has been proposed for fault detection and diagnosis. In order to improve the performance of the diagnoser system, the genetic algorithm has been used to optimize membership function parameters of fuzzy diagnosis system. To test the performance of the proposed diagnose system, toluene production plant was used. The simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm is capable of diagnosing various combinations (from two to four simultaneous faults) of simultaneous faults.

Corrosion in steam generation systems may lead to many problems in industrial units. The economizer and heating systems are the first parts in which corrosion happens. Due to use of boiler exhaust gases, an economizer is a key factor in increasing boiler thermal efficiency. Generally, corrosion in economizer equipment is due to O2, CO2 and NH3. In this work, the failure of a finned tube economizer is investigated by chemical analysis of the fin and tube samples, XRD and XRF analysis of corrosion product and the relation between the corrosion morphology and sediment composition. In addition, effect of tube thinning due to corrosion on mechanical strength is evaluated under operational conditions. The obtained results clearly showed that oxygen was the main cause of corrosion. Additionally, mechanical strength and resistance of the tube to internal pressure are higher than the minimum limit value despite tube thinning by corrosion.

Hydrogen gas is a clean and renewable fuel that can be a substitution for conventional fossil fuels, but hydrogen gas has a very low density, which limits the transportation, storage, and usage of it as a fuel. Liquefaction of hydrogen is one of the best methods for densifying hydrogen and reducing the obstacles of its application as a fuel. The use of helium refrigeration cycles in the hydrogen liquefaction process is a suitable and innovative method to improve the production capacity and reduce the energy consumption of current hydrogen liquefaction plants. In this study, a brief discussion about hydrogen liquefaction process is present, hydrogen liquefaction cycles based on helium refrigeration are reviewed, and advantages and disadvantages of them are considered.

Using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), this study aims to prioritize management accounting techniques in National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC). The main data gathering method was the questionnaire with a number of predetermined questions distributed among the selected purposive sample of the high-ranked experts working in 13 sub-companies of NIORDC in 2014. The results of this study indicate that among the Management Accounting Techniques, Cost Management Technique is in priority in NIORDC and its subsidiaries. However, a similar study conducted in National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) concludes that Activity-Based Costing method is dominant. Comparing three out of four mother companies of Iranian Petroleum Ministry i.e. NIOC, National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and NIORDC, cost management, economic value added and Activity-Based Costing techniques are highly preferred, respectively.
