Hydrodynamic and mass transfer of CO2 reactive adsorption on calcium oxide in a fluidized bed reactor was simulated in this research. For accomplishing this task, Gidaspaw’s phases exchange coefficient was used. Moreover, Abanades et al. kinetic equation was selected to investigate the mass transfer coupled with chemical reaction between carbon dioxide and calcium oxide. Simulation results were validated using experimental data of solid phase volume fraction and axial velocity in the fluidized bed. The results showed that, the deviation of carbon dioxide mass fraction in outlet stream and adsorption performance were 10 and 65 percent, respectively. The effect of inlet gas velocity and temperature on CO2 adsorption also showed that adsorption is decreased with inlet gas velocity. It was also known that increasing of bed inlet gas temperature had negative effect on CO2 adsorption

Efforts to reduce human and environmental risks and threats have led to studies to find new materials such as organoclays in order to apply in soil remediation and water treatment. In several studies, permeability and organic pollutants absorption level of the liners containing organoclays have been investigated. Based on the studies, modifications of bentonite to produce the organoclay have made hydrocarbon absorption capacity to a range of 4 to 10 grams per each gram of the adsorbent. Researchers believe that by using liners consisting of sand, bentonite and organoclay, organic pollutants absorbed by organoclay with a 93% removal capacity. Also, use of 20% bentonite in the liner structure can be very effective to reduce liner permeability up to 10-8 cm/s.

Modeling for complex systems such as membrane bioreactor due to run virtual tests a lot in a short time is a powerful tool, however, requires experimental validation and conversion the process to mathematical model. In this study, the modeling of filtering process by using neural network software MATLAB 8.1 (2013) with experimental data from a submerged MBR system that is equipped with Kubota membranes for municipal wastewater treatment with high Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids (MLSS) concentration was investigated.2/3 of empirical data were used for build, training and assessment the network, then the designed network was used to estimate the permeability of 1/3 of the data as well as other similar membrane bioreactor system. trainlm algorithm is applied for training. The value of Coefficient of determination (R^2) for predicting the permeability of 1/3 of datas of the first system is 0/93 and 0/92 for the same system.

In the liquid-liquid extraction processes, hold up of disperse phase and slip velocity are important hydrodynamic parameters. The parameters depend on column geometry and characteristics of phases and were used in the calculation of mass transfer and phases velocities. In this research, holdup and slip velocity of disperse phase in Kuhni column were investigated experimentally. The experiments were carried out in a pilot scale Kuhni column with two chemical systems including Toluene- Acetone-Water and butyl acetate-Acetone-Water without mass transfer. The effects of operating parameters including rotor speed disperse and continue phase flow rate on hold up and slip velocity were investigated. The results showed that hold up of disperse phase increases with mixing and phases flow rates whereas slip velocity was decreased with increasing of rotor speed. Also the results indicate that mass transfer effects on hold up of disperse phase and slip velocity.

In this research, DC thermal plasma torch is used for pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) gasification to produce lighter and more valuable gaseous products. The thermal plasma torch is able to generation active medium including energetic species which could crack molecular bonds of heavy hydrocarbons in PFO. The advantage of plasma method over thermal methods is the direct contact of plasma plume, which will reduce the heat loss due to heat transfer without combustion. For this purpose, first plasma torch designed and fabricated. The working state of the torch was optimized regarding power, gas flow rate, distance from nozzle to sample and treatment time. In the optimum point the product hydrogen and gaseous hydrocarbons was studied.

Diverse studies on porous materials show metal organic frameworks (MOFs), as a new subclass of nanoporous materials, are suitable for many industrial applications especially gas storage and separation. Metal organic frameworks constructed of connecting clusters as coordination centers and organic ligand as ionic metals. These compositions provide specific physical and chemical properties and tenability structure. Post synthesis modification methods are a robust strategy for functionalized MOFs and an effective method for changing pore nature of MOFs in the specific applications. In this paper in addition to introduce four types of post synthesis modification methods such as covalent, dative, inorganic and ionic, functional groups used in the post synthesis modification are investigated.

Many decades after innovation and development of FCC process, the impact of this process on production of gasoline in refinery complexes is still highlighted. In this research, to determine effects of input variables such as reactor temperature, the temperature of the top of fractionator column, the temperature of bottom of debutanizer on gasoline and LPG flowrates, RON and conversion of the process ANN and statistical modeling methods were applied. Based on the applicability and reliability of two methods, the ANN model was chosen as the suitable model. By application of SQP algorithm and utilizing the developed model, the optimum conditions were determined. So, the optimum reactor temperature, feed flow rate, the temperature of the top of fractionator column, the temperature of debutanizer column are respectively 524ºC, 43000 bbl/day,138ºC and 179ºC. The maximum obtained gasoline production under the optimum condition is 22575 bbl/day.

In this paper, the details of catalytic activity for the reforming reaction of normal heptane and the effect of different parameters such as temperature (450-500 °C), pressure (15-30 atm), promoting effect of various metals (neodymium and lead) and their amounts on this reaction and also the amount of formed coke on catalyst surface was investigated. The amount of formed coke on the surface of these catalysts was studied by thermal gravimetric (TG/DTA) method. The results show that the formation of coke on bimetallic catalysts of Pt-(Pb, Nd)/γ-Al2O3 are lower than the monometallic catalysts. Furthermore, the bimetallic catalysts also show the high activity in this reaction.

Crude oil is one of the most important contaminant areas. In recent years, investigating halotorerant fungi enzymes has confirmed their potential in biodegradation of crude oil. The aim of the current study is biodegradation of crude oil by halotolerant fungal Embellisia sp. The fungal strain was isolated by enrichment approach in PDA. Fungal strain was cultured in Minimal Salt Medium (MSM) containing 1% crude oil and salinity of 2.5% and 5%. Also, blank samples were used for each salinity. Cultured fungus was incubated in shaker flasks for 14 days. Biodegradation of crude oil in salinity of 0, 2.5 % and 5 % was 62.1 %, 37,3 % and 44,7 %, respectively. Finally, we can introduce Embellisia sp. for bioremediation of crude oil in saline contaminated regions. Although more extent experimental such as optimization of crude oil removal and also investigating the major mechanism of oil removal is essential.

There are two systems for storing CNG in reservoir tanks, cascade and buffer storage systems. The main objective of the present work is to apply a more detailed fast filling process modeling with the aim of comparison between these. The main operating cost of any CNG refueling station belongs to the compressor input work. Unlike most previous researches, pressure changes of the reservoir tanks during the filling process have been considered which necessary for compressor modeling. The results of the present work have been validated against the experimental data and also compared with the previous studies. The results show that the energy consumption by the compressor for a cycle is found to be 61.86 and 24.50 kWh for cascade and buffer respectively. The average energy consumption to fill a vehicle is found to be 2.38 and 2.72 kWh for cascade and buffer storage systems respectively.

In all catalytical processes, catalyst is deactivated due to the coke lay-down on that surface; therefore, it must be recovered by burning off the coke which can be accompleshed by in-situ or ex-situ approaches. In this research, ex-situ regeneration of a deactivated vacuum gas oil hydrocracking catalyst is investigated in a lab scale device. Then, the specifications of lab-scale ex-situ regenerated catalyst are compared with the fresh and industrial in-situ regenerated one. Results show that the sulfure content in the ex-situ regenerated catalyst is the same as the in-situ regenerated one which is concluded by measuring less coke on the suface of the former catalyst. Additionally, results confirm that ex-situ regenerated catalyst has less mechanical strenghth against the other ones. It is supposed that tensions during the discharging of catalyst from the reactor have caused such a problem. Therefore, this operation should be meticulously conducted.
