Venting hydrogen in the process units operating with hydrogen leads to irreparable risks. By applying special considerations, the possibility of taking place risks significantly decreases. In the present work, the effective ways for decreasing the risk of venting hydrogen in a lab-scale liquid hydrogen unit have been discussed as a case study. First, dicision flowchart for safety design of venting hydrogen has been presented and based on the presented flowchart, several solutions for reducing the risks have been considered. Ignition of hydrogen has been studied and the solutions for reducing the risk of explosion have been discussed. In addition, with considering the probability of ignition for hydrogen, appropriate diameter has been evaluated for tube in order to avoid coming back the flame.
