Abstract

An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the heat transfer characteristics of nanofluid flow inside elliptical tubes under constant heat flux. Nanofluids with different particle weight concentrations of 0.2, 0.5, 1 and 2% are used. The test section was heated by an electrical heating coil wrapped around it to produce constant heat flux condition. The results obtained for the convective heat transfer of flow inside round and elliptical tubes indicate that by increasing the heat flux and the flow rate, the convective heat transfer coefficient is increased. Also, it was observed that using nanofluid flow instead of heat transfer oil flow and applying elliptical tubes instead of round tube will enhance the convective heat transfer.
