Abstract

In this work, the absorption of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide was modeled and simulated in the gas sweetening process. In the model, chemical reactions were considered in the film model. Mass transfer fluxes were calculated for H2S and CO2 using steady state and unsteady state film model respectively. In the development model, effect of ionic and molecular species on mass flux was considered. The model equations including mass transfer and heat and hydrodynamic equations that are in ordinary and partial differential equations form. The equations were solved simultaneously suing finite difference and method of lines method. The simulation result was compared with experimental data of gas sweetening unit. The result showed that the model was predicted rigorously behavior of the process. The deviation average percent of the sweetening process was 5.06 with 100 nonequilibrium stages.
