simulation and analysis of integrated reforming combined cycle

Document Type : Review

Abstract

Reforming of hydrocarbons has been devoted a great attention to generate hydrogen-rich synthesis gas as a future clean fuel. the lowest cost routes to syngas so far are based on natural gas. The main attention of this study is to simulation of an integrated reforming combined cycle (IRCC) with natural gas as fuel input. This IRCC consisted of a hydrogen-fired gas turbine (GT) with a dual pressure steam cycle for power production. The pre-combustion cycle consists of an air blown auto-thermal reformer (ATR) which reforms natural gas to syngas, water-gas shift reactors that converts the CO to CO2, an amine-based absorption system to separate out the CO2 and the resulting hydrogen-rich fuel is used for the gas turbine in a combined cycle setup. Design simulation showed net plant efficiency around 50.8% with net plant power in the range of 463 MW. The CO2 capture rate ranged between 85% and 95% .
