Critical success factors identification and prioritization of information systems in National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company: A strategic planning approach

Abstract

The literature background related to this research was processed under codification method via content analysis, with Atlas software assistance. Through interviews among information technology specialists, the key dimensions recognized were reviewed and evaluated by questionnaires with: the importance value of so-called dimensions role in information systems’ success and, dimension type determination among opportunity, threat, strength and weakness point strategic choices approaches. The findings have shown that 6 critical success factors themes: organizational, political, social, economic, cultural and technological ones play vital roles in company’s information systems success among which, Network security and systems; databases integration; empowered manager and human resource; human resource promotion based on competency; IT strategies alignment with business; relation between leader and personnel; and IS admittance by senior management; respectively, are the most effective success factors as the result of this research.
