Considering increasingly stringent environmental regulations, the industry is burdened with large costs annually due to treatment and disposal of such volumes. Global oil to water volume ratio is about 1:3 according to world average. Currently, due to water shortage and industry developments, a lot of researches are being conducted in order to find new water sources. Recent studies demonstrated that treated produced water has the potential of consumption in different industries. Consequently, high-quality water consumption can be prevented where such a quality is not required. In this paper, produced water treatment and different options of water reuse is studied.
