Investigation of Equilibrium adsorption of gases on adsorbents

Document Type : Review

Abstract

Adsorption of gas on solid adsorbents is one of the important processes in gas industry and industrial wastewater treatment processes. In this work, the equilibrium adsorption models of gas including two and three parameter isotherms were studied. Also, the Langmuir، Freundlich، Temkin and Redlich- Peterson models have been investigated to account the adsorption amount of gas on adsorbents and adsorption behavior. After mathematical formulation of these models, the tuning parameters were adjusted. In order to compare the performance of studied models, the gas adsorption experimental data reported in the literature were correlated using deviation of the predicted gas adsorption amount from their experimental results. The results show that the Freundlich and Redlich- Peterson models predict more accurately the gas adsorption experimental data on adsorbents in comparison to other models. Also, the Temkin model predicts accurately the gas adsorption experimental data on solid adsorbents in comparison to Langmuir model.
