The main challenge limiting the application of polymeric membranes in oily wastewater treatment is severe and irreversible membrane fouling caused by the adhesion of oil droplets. In this study, the effects of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanoparticles on the properties and performance of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membranes for oil-in-water emulsion separation were investigated. Nanocomposite membranes containing 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 wt% g-C3N4 were fabricated using the phase inversion method. FESEM, AFM, and water contact angle (WCA) analyses were used to characterize the membranes. The results showed that incorporating g-C3N4 improved the surface properties and separation performance of the membranes. The membrane containing 0.5 wt% g-C3N4 exhibited a WCA of 63.61°, a water flux of 36 L m⁻² h⁻¹, and an oil rejection of 97%. In addition, this membrane exhibited improved antifouling performance and greater resistance to fouling.
