Distillation is one of the most common separation processes in chemical industries because of its simplicity and technically mature. Distillation is used for 95% of all fluid separations and it is using around 3% of the total energy consumption s in the world. Utilization of Petlyuk and Divided Wall Columns (DWC) has been a major concern for the industries. DWC can reduce up to 25% of capital cost up to 35% reduction in operation cost and up to 40% saving in plant space. Use of DWC can help reducing the global warming. In the present study the potential of retrofitting conventional depropanizer- debutanizer columns system to a Divided Wall Column has been investigated by simulation with Aspen Plus. Retrofitting is seem to be feasible and recommend to industry.
